Anointing oil for Avurudu…

The Sri Lankans observed the tradition of anointing of oil for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year at the auspicious time of 7.16 am today (April 17). According to ‘Nekath Seettuwa’ – the table of auspicious times of Avurudu – people engaged in this ritual while clad in blue and facing the South. People were seen turning up at Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo and Bellanwila Raja Maha Viharaya to observe the tradition.
