Required steps have been taken to immediately supply flood relief to people affected by the floods and landslides occurring in the country due to the current rain showers, said Minister of Disaster Management A.H.M. Fowzie.
He said that Assistant Government Agent´s (AGA) offices and Government Agent’s offices have been informed on the matter and that theirs no shortage of funds allocated for disaster relief.
Even now steps are being taken to allocate Rupees One Million for the Galle District alone the Minister said when inquired by Ada Derana. He further added that due to the government carrying out large scale projects to develop canal and drainage systems in the recent past the current flood situation isn’t very severe.
