The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) this morning announced that they will not increase private bus fares and also will not resort to a strike action.
The LPBOA which threatened strike action if permission was not granted them for a fare increase, said they would give a one month ultimatum to the government to draw up a time table for the private operators. The Association president Gemunu Wijeratne said a common time table, if drawn will solve the several problems faced by them.
However, Mr. Wijeratne said he challenges the government to provide a quality bus service. If the government is successful in providing a quality service to the passengers, Mr. Wijeratne said he would resign from his position.
