The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has ordered the release of Captain Senaka de Silva who acted as former Army Chief Sarath Fonseka’s private secretary. He was charged with conspiring to overthrow the government.

Presenting a report to the court when the case was called for hearing today the CID stated that all the investigation reports gathered regarding the suspect had been presented to the Attorney General.

And after examining the said reports the AG had declared that gathered information were insufficient to charge the suspect with and therefore had requested that Captain Senaka de Silva be released.

After considering the plead of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) the Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli then ordered that the suspect be released from the charges.
