Indian arrested smuggling gold from Sri Lanka

An Indian national has been arrested at the Annadurai International Airport in Chennai for illegally smuggling a batch of gold biscuits from Sri Lanka to India. The suspect had reportedly swallowed the gold in order to transport it.
The suspect who had apparently come to Sri Lanka on a tourist visa is said to be a resident of Pudukottai in Chennai.
Officers of the Excise Department at the airport had grown suspicious of the 43 year old due to the manner in which he was walking and had proceeded to search the individual, Indian media reports.
The suspect, Abdullah had then revealed to the officers that he had concealed 7 gold biscuits in his abdomen.
It is reported that the gold amounts to over 2 million Indian rupees. While the suspect is being interrogated officials are investigating the possible involvement of other individuals.
