After taking the mantle as the Convenor of the IUSF, Udul had to give up his pursuit for a degree, that is the truth, the Acting Convenor of the Inter-University Student Federation Sanjeeva Bandara said today in light of the letter Ada Derana received regarding the cancellation of the studentship of Udul Premaratne in 2008.
People who understand the reality behind the government and its moves would appreciate the sacrifice Udul made to lead the students’ struggle, Bandara claimed.
He added that the cancellation had taken place without a proper disciplinary inquiry. He was penalized for giving leadership to the student movement and no other fault of his, Bandara added.
Udul never failed any exams, he just was not able to sit for the exam due to the responsibilities he had as the convenor of the Inter University Student Federation. He did not fail because he was unskilled or not smart, he did not have the time, Bandara said.
