Boycott Union action – Health Minister

November 9, 2010   02:21 pm

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena today requested Government Nurses to boycott the proposed Union action to stay away from work tomorrow.  The Government Nursing Officers’ Association earlier today announced that they will resort to stern trade union action centered on several demands due to authorities showing no response to previous demands made by the union.

The Minister said that he had spent a good part of the last six months discussing with different Unions how to solve the problems faced by the Nurses and other Nursing staff. He requested the Unions to come for discussions and sort the issues through dialogue.
