Gambling Bill passed

The Gambling Bill was passed in parliament a short while ago with an 81 majority.114 Voted for and 33 voted against the bill which was presented in parliament this morning by the Deputy Finance Minister Sarath Amunugama.

 

Amunugama presenting the bill stated that this measure would ensure a central control on the licensing casinos and gambling outlets.

 

Under the bill gambling establishments could be set up in specified areas. Amunugama added that this move is mainly targeting developing the booming tourism industry of Sri Lanka.
