721 charged with power piracy

721 persons have been charged with obtaining electricity illegally from Kilinochchi, Batticaloa and Ampara areas. Cases have been filed against the group of people following raids conducted by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) in the month of October alone.
The 721 persons who were found guilty by court have been fined an amount of over Rs. 13 million in total. Power and Energy Minister Champika Ranawaka says that such raids will be carried out further in various parts of the country.
