For the first time in the country’s military history the three armed forces of Sri Lanka have decided to hold a joint field military exercise. The Army, Navy and Air Force will commence the program on November 21st, Army Spokesperson Major General Ubaya Madawala revealed.

The exercise is scheduled to be carried out for 9 whole days from Silawathura in the Mannar District all the way to Anuradhapura, Thanthirimale and Mavillu.

While over 1600 Army Commandos and Special Forces personnel will take part in the activity several Navy sea vessels and Air Force combat aircrafts will also be used.

The aim is to train soldiers to lead and guide others in any given circumstance and also to make sure they identify their strengths and weaknesses in various fields, the Spokesperson added.
