Railwaymen to protest at noon

November 15, 2010   10:29 am

The United Railway Services Trade Unions Front says that they have decided to stage a protest today in front of the Maradana Railway Station, against the alleged axing of the trade rights and privileges of railway workers.

We have decided to enter a protest movement due to the relevant authorities not making any approach whatsoever to provide us with our trade rights in recent times, the Secretary of the association Sampath Rajitha stated.

The protest will be carried out at 12.00 noon today (15 November) with the joint participation of 15 trade unions.

“Later on we plan to aggregate more trade unions in order to resort to a large scale trade union action in the near future” Mr. Rajitha expressed.
