VIDEO: Tree planting campaign: The start of breathing life to a free country

The process of breathing new life to a free country, which is preparing itself for a large economical leap, was begun by today’s tree planting campaign, says President Mahinda Rajapaksa. This will create an environment where the country’s future generations could breathe freely, he said.
This tree planting campaign is being conducted at Sri Lankan embassies around the world at the same time, therefore this is a campaign that is being carried out worldwide, the President pointed out.
Sri Lanka has always had environment friendly rulers. Currently Sri Lanka is proving to be a role model to the entire world by being one of the countries causing the least environmental pollution, he stated while taking part in the tree planting program at the President’s House today.
1.1 million tree saplings are being planted in commemoration of the upcoming birthday of Mahinda Rajapaksa and his successful second tenure as President.
