Group taken in for questioning and released – Jaffna SSP

The Jaffna SSP Neville Padmadeva speaking to Ada Derana a short while ago clarified that Jaffna police had only taken the 50 persons who were engaged in a petition campaign to question and that they were not arrested.
He added that police received information that a group was attempting make undemocratic acts in Jaffna and upon that information the group was taken in for questioning and later released.
However speaking to Ada Derana the Acting convenor of the Inter University Student Federation, Sanjeewa Bandara claimed that this was a disruptive move to stop the petition campaign in Jaffna. He added that after releasing the group police were later deployed to make sure they did not begin the campaign again.
