Container transporting poisonous chemicals and food together seized

Police today seized a container that was transporting highly poisonous chemicals and food products together at Mahiyanganaya. Police said that the container was being used to transport goods from Colombo to shops in Mahiyanganaya and Dehiaththakandiya areas.

Initial investigations have revealed that goods have been transported in this manner neglecting all standard safety precautions for over 13 years. The driver and his assistant have been arrested and is scheduled to be produced before the Mahiyanganaya Magistrate.
