The Divisional Education Director has ordered that the Stockholm Barathi Tamil Vidyalaya in Hatton be temporarily shut down due to a viral fever spreading amongst its students.
In the past two days some 40 students from the school were admitted to the hospital after they had suddenly felt faintish and had suffered nausea. Six of those students are still receiving medication at the Dik-oya District Hospital.
It has been said that there is a high risk of the disease spreading due to the limited space in the school which educates over 1000 students.
