Three gold smugglers in same flight arrested in Chennai

A Sri Lankan has been arrested at the Anna International Airport in Meenambakkam, Chennai when he was found carrying several gold biscuits, each weighing 255g and also 500,000 Indian rupees in his hand luggage.
Two brothers also Sri Lankan were arrested by Indian Excise Department officials after they had arrived in the same flight as the previous suspect. The brothers had also possessed gold biscuits worth 700,000 Indian rupees and 500,000 IR worth of electronic items.
Indian media reports that the total valuables acquire by the officials from the three Lankans today amounts to some 1.7 million Indian rupees. The suspects are scheduled to be produced before courts.
