9 Sri Lankan films to be Screened at IFFI

In the country Focus section at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2010, Sri Lanka is another country in focus along with Georgia, Mexico and Taiwan. An overview of award winning Sri Lankan films from the year 2000 to 2010 will be IFFI’s gift to the lovers of Sri Lankan Cinema.
The 9 films being screened in the Package are Saroja (2000), Me Mage Sandai (2001), Agni Dahaya (2002), Sudu Kaluwara (2003), Mille Soya (2004), Ira Madiyama, (2005), Udugan Yamaya (2006), Aganthukaya (2007) and Walapatala (2008). Eminent filmmakers from the country are expected to attend the Festival.
The themes covered in the films are contemporary as well as depicts political turmoil during occupation by Dutch forces (Agnidahaya) and story set during British occupation of the Island Nation (Sudu Kaluwara).
The package has films such as Ira Madiyama and Udugan Yamaya depicting the society traumatized and disturbed by nearly twenty years of civil war.
