Thus far over 600 foreigners have been deported in this year (2010) alone for having entered the country on tourist visas but working in various occupations, the Immigration and Emigration Department reveals.

While most of them are of Indian nationality they also include people from Pakistan, China and Bangladesh, a spokesman to the department said.

It has been reported that some 300 foreigners were deported in this manner in past three months alone and that they had mostly been employed in restaurants and jewelry making businesses amongst others.
