Budget second reading vote today

The second reading vote on the proposed 2011 budget will be taken up at 6.00pm today. The budget was presented to the Parliament by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on 22 November.


Accordingly the second reading debate was started on 23 November and therefore the third reading would begin tomorrow (30 November).


Meanwhile the United National Party (UNP) and the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) have expressed that they will be using their vote against the budget in parliament.


However a spokesman to the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) speaking to Ada Derana said that their party has still not come to a final decision regarding their vote at Parliament.


The expenditure of the Ministries is also set to be taken up for debate. The third reading vote on the budget is scheduled to be held on 10 December also at 6.00 pm.
