Ten Lankan fishermen arrested in India

Indian Coastguard officials have arrested ten more Sri Lankan fishermen over crossing the maritime boundary. The arrested fishermen had headed off to sea from the Chilaw area on two fishing boats, the Director General of the Fisheries Department stated.
 

Five fishermen had been traveling on each of the two boats identified as ‘Kalum Putha’ and ‘Prasanna Putha’.


We have received information that the fishermen are currently being transported to Chennai, the Director General S.W. Pathirana expressed.
