Reduce Govt. holidays to lure foreign investors - UNP

December 1, 2010   03:07 pm

UNP MP Ravi Karunanayaka today asked the Government to consider increasing the working days in Sri Lanka to lure foreign investors. Karunanayake made this request in parliament where he explained that Sri Lanka had one of the least amount of working days compared to our region.

Compared to India which was 301 working days per annum, Sri Lanka has only 277. Due to this reason foreign investors would be lured into other Asian nations as opposed to Sri Lanka, he said.

Karunanayaka said that there were 33 Government Holidays per annum apart from the weekends.
