UPDATE: Explosion at Nuwaraeliya Police station, suspect lobs grenade

A blast was report from inside the Nuwaraeliya Police Station a short while ago. 10 injured have been rushed to the Nuwaraeliya hospital. The Police media spokesman’s office said that the explosion took place after police had arrested a suspect for the alleged possession of weed and was bringing him to the police station.

The suspect had lobbed a grenade at the policemen near the gate of the police station. According to the office of the Police media spokesman two policemen and the suspect had been injured.

However Nuwaraeliya hospital sources confirmed that 10 policemen were admitted to the hospital following the blast.
