Almost 90% of government institutions in Colombo and adjacent areas contain dengue mosquito breeding grounds, the Ministry of Health said following examinations carried out concurrently with the National Dengue Control Week.

During the dengue prevention week in October this year, these establishments were searched and steps had been taken to destroy all the mosquito hotbeds found in them, the health Ministry stated.

However dengue mosquito propagating spots were once again found in these establishments, the Ministry pointed out.

Therefore the concerning institutions have been advised to eradicate all those breeding areas within two weeks, and legal action will be taken against those institutions that fail to do so, the Ministry of Health firmly stated.
