I never mentioned war crimes - Karu

December 7, 2010   10:39 am

Speaking in parliament today UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya said that he never mentioned the words ‘war crimes’ and ‘diaspora’ in his statement to the weekend newspaper. He said this in the backdrop of the government’s announcement that they would bring in a no confidence motion against him for allegedly stating that a war crimes probe should be conducted on Sri Lanka.

Housing and Construction Minister Wimal Weerawansa yesterday said that the government would bring a no confidence motion against Jayasuriya over his alleged statement to a weekend newspaper.

Karu claimed today that though he did not wear a board exhibiting that he was a patriot, he was infact a patriot. I only said that we should provide an explanation over the allegations made regarding Sri Lanka by the International community.
