We are ready to meet the challenge posed by the Government in the form of a no-confidence motion against Karu Jayasuriya, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka said today. He also added that the alleged newspaper had twisted the statement and legal action will be taken against the paper.
The government yesterday announced that they would bring in a no confidence motion against UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya for allegedly stating that a war crimes probe should be conducted on Sri Lanka to a weekend newspaper.
Attanayake also went on to comment on the UNP Annual Convention which is scheduled to be held on December 12. He stated that at the convention only the new party constitution is scheduled to be voted on. Attanayaka claimed that there were reports of certain groups planning to sabotage the convention and necessary precautions have been taken to avert such a situation.
