JVP condemns assault on Bahu’s supporters

December 8, 2010   02:31 pm

The JVP today condemned the assault on NSSP leader Vickramabahu Karunarathne and his supporters outside the Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday. The JVP in a statement said that thought they do not condone Vickramabahu’s separatist agenda, it should be defeated politically and not by assaulting individuals.

The JVP questioned those who attacked Vickramabahu whether they turn a blind eye on former LTTE leaders like; Karuna Amman alias Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan, Pilleyan alias Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan and KP alias Kumaran Pathmanathan who are close to the government now.

The JVP summed up the statement adding that it disagreed with both the political stance of Vickramabahu and also the assault on him and his supporters.
