Max retail price on rice re-imposed

The maximum retail price for Samba rice will be Rs. 70 while the max retail price for Nadu, White and Red rice will be Rs. 60 with effect from midnight today (December 09), Co-operatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando said.


The Internal Trade Ministry had removed the maximum retail price of Rs.70 per kilogram of rice on October 26, 2010 stating that no price ceiling was needed due to rice prices coming down in the market.
