Solar power stations by August 2011

The government hopes to build solar power stations with a total capacity of 1237 Kilowatts by August 2011 with the aid of the Japanese and Korean governments.
The solar stations will be built in two stages in Baruthankanda, Hambantota with the Japanese government donating Rs.1,024 million for a station of the capacity of 737Kw scheduled for completion in August 2011. For the second stage the Korean government has donated Rs. 513 million while the Sri Lankan government has put in an additional Rs.114 million in building a plant of the capacity of 500Kw which will be completed in the first half of 2011.
