Health officials warn that the water distributed through the communal water supply project in Galewela, Kandapalla is unfit for human consumption. Water sample tests conducted in regard to this have revealed that 91% of the water contains human waste.

While almost 5,000 families receive water through this particular irrigation project, health officials emphasize on the need to distribute the water after inducing it to the water chlorination process.
