New railway track from Fort to Maradana

A new railway track has been built to reduce the congestion between the Colombo Fort and Maradana railway stations. The new railway line was inaugurated at the auspicious time of 10.30am today (December 28), Commercial Superintendent of the Railway Department Vijaya Samarasinghe said.

 


In addition the express railway line from Galle to Matare will commence on January 15, he also mentioned. The track has been custom built so trains can ravel in speeds up to 100kmph, Samarasinghe said.
