Police CCTV system in operation from today

The CCTV camera system implemented and maintained by the Police will begin its operation today while Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse will commission the cameras which have been place around Colombo.

 

The system has been placed in order to curb crime within the city and for police to carry out surveillance while Police Spokesman SSP Prishantha Jayakoddy stated that the police hope to ease traffic congestion by providing motorists with instructions during heavy traffic blocks.
