According to the Central bank of Sri Lanka the average inflation of the country in 2010 was 5.9%. It is the country’s second lowest annual average inflation rate observed since 1990, the bank said.

Even though prices escalated in the global market, we were able to restrict the increase of consumer prices within the country through the revision of import levies, the Central bank points out.

The increase in agrarian production in the country was an added reason for the inflation rate to go down, the bank says in a statement released.
