The remaining eight LTTE boats out of the 20 which the LTTE were reported to have possessed back in 2002 are being used by international LTTE bodies to perform illegal activities, Chief Government Whip Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said.

Responding to a question raised by UNP MP Gamini Jayawickrema Perera, Minister Gunawardena stated that 11 out of the 20 LTTE boats had been destroyed by the armed forces while the largest of the boats was brought to the Colombo harbour in December 2009.

Furthermore he added that the rest of the boats were being used for illegal LTTE operations at the moment while investigations are ongoing regarding their whereabouts.
