New Local Government institutions established

A decision has been made to newly establish four Municipal Councils, one Urban Council and nine Pradeshiya Sabha. Therefore Dambulla, Bandarawela, Kaduwela and Akkaraipattu have been named as Municipal Councils.


While Eravur has been named as an Urban Council, Irakkaman, Narammala, Millaniya, Lunugala, Welipitiya, Bamunakotuwa, Pallama, Delthota and Gonapinuwala are the newly established Pradeshiya Sabhas.


Election of these Local Government establishments will be held together with the other LG establishments in March, Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister A.L.M. Athaulla said.
