Higher taxes for mobile telecom providers or lower charges for consumers - Ravi

The opposition raised questions today in Parliament regarding the low level of income tax imposed on mobile telecommunication providers who make large profits. The government should impose a higher tax rate on those companies or provide lower charges on their services for consumers, UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake stated.

 

Chief Government Whip Dinesh Gunawardena said that the matter will be taken up with the relevant Ministry.
