VIDEO: Hope to establish UNP govt. in future, say new members

A group of SLFP members and supporters from the Avissawella, Seethawaka electorate pledged their support to the UNP today. We don’t agree with the procedures of the current government, the group announced at a press conference after obtaining UNP membership.
The group, several of them said to have been members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) for over 30 years, stated that they also oppose the decision taken by the government not to grant public sector employees the promised pay hike.
Speaking at the press conference in Colombo today the new UNP members expressed that they will pledge their support to the UNP in the upcoming Local Government elections.
We hope to establish a United National Party government in the future, they added.
