Private bus collision leaves 20 injured

20 people are reported to be injured as a result of an accident that took place at the Hungama, Kiwula area in the Matara –Kataragama main road. The police stated two private buses had collided with each other today (January 08) morning.


One of the buses involved in the accident was heading to Nuwara Eliya from Matara while the other had been in route to Matara from the town of Tissamaharama.


The injured passengers have been admitted to the Hambantota and Tangalla hospitals.


The drivers of the two buses and several children, on their way to a tuition class were reported to be amongst the wounded.
