Children’s home Warden and Ass’t Warden remanded

The Warden and the Assistant Warden of a children’s home in Anuradhapura have been placed in remand custody. They had been arrested and presented to courts charged with neglecting the needs of the children and also child abuse, the NCPA stated.


The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) revealed that information had been received that the Warden and the Assistant Warden were not properly providing the children with food and water.


After considering the report of the Court’s Medical Officer the Acting Magistrate of Anuradhapura had ordered that the duo be remanded.


The court also ordered that the children’s home in question be taken under the care of the Anuradhapura Probation Commissioner, the Child Protection Authority stated.
