Govt. calls for public assistance for flood victims

The government has sought the assistance of the general public to assist over 800,000 flood in the country as the need has grown for clean drinking water, mats, bed sheet, clothes and milk food.

 

“The unexpected climatic change has made the people displaced in thousands. Sri Lankan people are well known for their generous help and hospitality in times of crises situation so we appeal the people in other areas to assist these affected people who are at displaced centres now. This is the time we need the assistance of the people to help victims”, Minister of Health Maithripala Sirisena told government media.

 

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) will set up centres at which the public can donate any of the needed items shortly.
