Lankan govt. donates tea to flood-hit Australia

The Government of Sri Lanka as a mark of solidarity with the people of Australia, donated a consignment of black tea as relief assistance for the victims of the recent flash floods in the State of Queensland which has caused immense damage to over 200,000 people in the State of Queensland.


Minister of External Affairs, Prof. G.L. Peiris handed over the donation of tea to Ms. Sophia McIntyre, the Actg. High Commissioner for Australia yesterday (10 January) at the Ministry of External Affairs.


The Minister stated that this donation was all the more appropriate since Sri Lanka has been the beneficiary of the goodwill of Australia in the past.
