January 13, 2011   11:39 am

President today requested local media to act responsibly and not to spread racial hatred. He said this at a meeting held at Temple Trees with Media Heads today. President also added that at a time when the country is emerging from decades of war media should build bridges and heal the wounds left by war.

On a more serious note President Rajapaksa stated that he who did not let Prabakaran divide the country will not allow any other party to do so.

When queried regarding the prevailing weather and LG polls President claimed that there was no special reason to postpone the upcoming Local Government elections due to the floods.
