Even though my brother Mano Ganeshan, who is also our party leader, lost in the general election, I cannot break the promise I had made to Basil Rajapaksa, Democratic People’s Front Parliamentarian Prabha Ganeshan said.
I promised Basil Rajapaksa, who attended Mano Ganeshan’s birthday party on December 17, 2009 which was also the handing in date for Presidential nominations, that I would cross over to the government with the full blessings of the party (DPF) leadership, Prabha Ganeshan told Ada Derana.
Therefore the Democratic People’s Front being inquisitive regarding me joining the government party and taking measures to hold a disciplinary inquiry on me is a joke, he explained.
The Parliamentarian stated that since there are no more white vans, abductions and extortion there’s no need for creating problems with the government and added that he wishes to cooperate with the government and help the public who brought them to power.
During the crucial stages of the war it was not only the government that was involved in abductions, disappearances, assassinations and extortions. It had been confirmed that a certain reputed Tamil political organization with the blessing of the government was often behind these incidents, the MP revealed.
That Tamil political party made a large contribution to the government towards victoriously ending the civil war, Prabha Ganeshan expressed.
“Even though I have joined hands with the ruling party, I will direct the government’s attention towards the factions responsible in the kidnappings, murders and the corruption that is raising its head once again in the Northern Province.
I will never approve of such human rights violations” he further expressed.
