The PAFFREL organization states that certain former heads of Local Government institutions are misusing there power in carrying out personal election propaganda using state resources.

The relevant authorities have to take immediate action in regard to these incidents, the Executive Director of the People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) Rohana Hettiarachchi stated.

The Director expressed his belief that the special commissionaires currently appointed to Local Government institutions for the time period until the election would carryout their duties impartially.

He also added that the responsibilities of those officials within the time given period is crucial and vital for a free and fare election and also to avoid the inappropriate manipulation of state property.
