PHIs in Kalutara resort to trade union action against police

Public Health Inspectors within the Kalutara District have taken to trade union action following the arrest of a fellow PHI official by the police in Dargha Town, Kalutara. It has been reported that PHIs in the Kalutara District will be refraining from affairs concerning the ordinance on cow slaughtering. 


The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors’ Association, Upul Rohana stated that the Public Health Inspector had been arrested while on an official duty concerning the cow slaughtering ordinance; hence we will refrain from duties concerning that ordinance.


Authorities have to take immediate action in order to educate police officers regarding the said ordinance, Upul Rohana further expressed.
