A woman from Sri Lanka lodged a complaint with the Chennai city police commissioner on Thursday, alleging that her in-laws were trying to get her husband married to another woman.

The police said R. Dhihana, 26, a native of Vavunya in Sri Lanka, was in love with S. Rahulan, 25, also a Sri Lankan national. The couple got married in Sri Lanka on May 6, 2005 and had three children.”Dhihana alleged in her complaint that Rahulan left for Chennai in October 2010 but did not return as scheduled,” a police officer said. “He made a call to Dhihana on January 3, 2011 and told her that his parents were arranging for him to get married to another woman.”

Dhihana arrived with her children in Chennai few days ago and went to Rahulan’s house in Anbu Nagar, Valasaravakkam, but his parents did not allow her inside. “Despite repeated attempts, she was not allowed to meet her husband,” the officer said. “She said that her in-laws had moved her husband to an undisclosed location.”

Police commissioner T. Rajendran forwarded Dhihana’s complaint to the Vadapalani assistant commissioner of police for further action, the Deccan Chronicle reports.
