Hanover, Germany provides ICU, commends Lankan health service

Professor Wolf Dieter Gogole of the Hanover Municipal Council, Germany today said that Germany would gladly step forward to provide international assistance for the development of Sri Lanka’s health services.
Speaking during an event to provide the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital with a fully fledged Intensive Care Unit (ICU) funded by the Hanover Municipal Council, Prof. Gogole said that he appreciates the Sri Lankan government’s attempt to keep the country’s hospital system in excellent condition.
These German delegates had previously met Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena and had commended Sri Lanka’s free health service expressing that Sri Lanka’s health service is a good example for the rest of the developing countries.
The entire project is estimated to cost Rs. 150 million while an ICU comprising with 10 beds will be established as the initial step.
