Rao’s visit to Sri Lanka an ‘eyewash’ - BJP

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari today dismissed Indian Foreign Secretary, Nirupama Rao’s visit to Sri Lanka as an “eyewash”. Rao is scheduled to arrive tomorrow (January 31) to discuss with the government the issue of attacks on Indian fishermen allegedly by the Lankan navy.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai today he expressed “The Congress is not serious about it (attacks on Indian fishermen)”.
Gadkari said that the opposition party Leader in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj would visit Vedharanyam in Tamil Nadu, the nearest spot to the Sri Lankan Coast and also Sri Lanka in February in order to acquaint herself with the hardships faced by Indian fishermen, PTI reported.
