High Court orders Prison Officials to grant SF hot water facilities

February 2, 2011   12:12 pm

The Colombo High Courts today (February 2) ordered that hot water facilities be granted to Sarath Fonseka after he was reportedly suffering from respiratory problems for the past two weeks.

The order came after Fonseka’s defence lawyer raised concerns that the prison officials had ignored the prison Doctor’s instructions to provide the retired Army Commander with hot water after being examined. High Court Judge Deepali Wijesundera questioned prison officials as to why the facilities were not granted and ordered that provisions be made immediately.

Meanwhile Sarath Fonseka’s former Secretary Senaka De Silva also appeared before courts where a bail plea was rejected and he was ordered to be kept in remand. The case will be taken up again on May 3.
