Markss participates at ‘Pharmexil’ business meet in India

One of Sri Lanka’s most dynamic and fast growing healthcare companies – Markss HLC participated recently in the “India – Saarc & Asian Pharmaceutical Meet” held at the Ramada Hotel in Alahabad, situated in the State of Gujarat in India.


Mr. Ajith Jayatilleka, Director of Markss HLC represented the company at this three day meet which was organized by Pharmaceutical Export Development Council of the Indian Ministry for Industry & Commerce.


Sixty delegates from Bangladesh, Nepal, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and Sri Lanka participated in this “India – Saarc & Asian Pharmaceutical Meet” which is held annually in conjunction with “Vibrant Gujarat – 2011” global business meet held under the guidance of Hon. Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of the State of Gujarat. Similarly more than 230 delegates from pharmaceutical manufacturing companies throughout India, inclusive of Gujarat were also present at this meet to inform and exchange their views on their specialized products and services.


“Participation at this unique pharmaceutical meet was very fruitful since we got to know not only of many high quality Indian pharmaceuticals, but also had the opportunity of meeting many executives and directors of these pharmaceutical manufacturing companies. In addition we also had the good fortune of meeting with pharmaceutical distributors and exporters of the SAARC region and much goodwill and fellowship was created which is bound to give dividends to the whole region in the future. We also had the opportunity of finding new medicines, raw materials, medical equipment which would be of immense benefit to the Sri Lankan medical sector ” stated Mr.  Ajith Jayatilleka, Director, Markss HLC, commenting on the “India – Saarc & Asian Pharmaceutical Meet”.


He further stated “The Pharmaceutical Export Development Council had also spared no pains and expenses to provide an ideal and comfortable environment for the delegates to meet and converse on topics of mutual benefit. I think that organizing meets such as these are perfect instances for us to gain pharmaceutical knowledge which would be of immense benefit to the medical fraternity of our country. It gives a great impetus to companies such as Markss in their quest towards a healthy Sri Lanka”.


At this event which was held under the patronage of Hon. Jaya Narayan Wais, Minister of Health of the State of Gujarat, Mr. Raguvar Kinni, Executive Director, Pharmaceutical Export Development Council of India stated that the Indian Pharmaceutical industry which has a 130 year old history has by producing new medicines and lifting pharmaceutical standards come into the forefront of the world of pharmaceuticals. This meet is an attempt to introduce these new products and standards to the world. He thanked all the invitees for attending this meet and making it a resounding success.


Another special feature of this “India – Saarc & Asian Pharmaceutical Meet” was that all invitees and delegates attending this meet were accorded a chance to witness the inauguration ceremony of “Vibrant Gujarat -2011” global business meet held at Ghandhinagar, the capital of the State of Gujarat. At this global meet attended by heads of nations, India’s top businessmen and Hindi film stars, expressions of interest for development projects worth Indian Rupees 30 billion were signed.
