Flood-affected exceeds 800,000 - DMC

According to the Disaster Management Center 842, 186 people have been affected due to the flooding islandwide. 08 deaths have been reported and two persons are said to be missing while four people are injured, the DMC revealed.


139,381 people belonging to 37,673 families have been displaced as a result of the disaster situation and are currently placed in 430 camps, the center also stated.


The Trincomalee District is said to be the worst affected by the floods with 290,954 individuals belonging to 80,962 families reported to be affected in the district alone.
 

Some 200,000 people of 85,000 families in the Anuradhapura District and 33,149 families including 123,888 people in the Batticaloa District are in distress, the Disaster management Center disclosed.


Meanwhile 896 houses have been completely destroyed owing to the adverse weather conditions.
